Cardboard boxes, 2007.
installation
400 x1160 x1570cm
The work Cardboard Boxes is an installation that consists of an indeterminate number of cardboard boxes, the number of them depending on the size of the space in which the work is produced. It is done in two phases. In the first phase, of construction, the boxes, the construction units of the sculpture, are deployed densely and dynamically around the floor and along the walls, practically as if they were invading the space, imparting rhythmical dynamics to it and totally altering its appearance. In phase two there is interaction with the audience which, on entering the gallery, and walking around, deforms the installation, and in this manner impacts the form of the sculpture, or one might say, the appearance of the space.
